"Hey diabetics! Anyone interested in helping to control their diabetes by losing fat and building muscle?"

"Wouldn't it be great to look forward to a future free of complications and heaps of medication while at the same time having the added benefit of looking good?"

Dear Reader,

If you'd like to decrease your insulin resistance, lower your blood glucose and decrease your 'pill load', then this might be the most important letter you'll ever read.

Here's why:

I have found a book that frankly has been the answer to a prayer. In a simple yet comprehensive way it has taught me how to lose fat while increasing muscle, with all the accompanying benefits mentioned above.

Now, I know you're probably sceptical. That's normal and healthy. Let me give you three good reasons to believe what I say.

Reason one:

I am a diabetic myself.

I am struggling with the same issues you are.

I know how much anything that enables us to get a handle on this disease means.

It was for this reason I started this website and it is for the same reason I am now sharing my opinion of this incredible book with you.

Reason two:

Writing a medical site means you have an obligation to your readers and so I have always gone out of my way to present, to the best of my ability, information that has been both verified scientifically and proven by use.

I truly believe these same criteria have been satisfied by this ground breaking book.

Reason three:

In the time the site has been up and running I have had emails from plenty of people thanking me for my help but never one telling me they were unhappy with what I told them.

I find that gratifying as it tells me I must be doing something right!

"So what does this book offer us diabetics?"

Lets take a look.

So now you know what I think the book has to offer us diabetics, let me explain how I found out about it and why I am so enthusiastic about it.

I search the internet all the time for anything new that may be of help to those folk with diabetes who read my site and one day I came across this book called "Burn the Fat, Build the Muscle".

When I first saw the title of this book I thought "WOW, this is just what we Type 2 diabetics are always being told to do!".

Hasn't every single one of you has been told by your doctor that diet and exercise are essential to controlling your diabetes. That eating right gets rid of the fat while exercise builds the muscle?

So I did what any desperate type 2 would do, I took a look at the author's 'pitch page', the one that tells you all about him and the book.

The first thing that struck me as the page opened was the picture of a chap with one of those 6-pack abs and I thought "Oh no, not another book aimed at body builders!".

After all, as a female, having such a set of abdominal muscles interests me not at all and besides, I am a desperate deprived diabetic and those abs don't make me think 'great body' they just remind me of that luscious chunky slab of chocolate, all neatly divided into bite sized squares!

Of course looking down at myself tends to make me think of donuts or bagels...... Sorry, I digressed a bit there, but I am sure you will understand.

Anyway, once I got over this first impression and read on I realised that this was NOT a book just for body builders and I decided to buy it and see what it had to offer.

It turned out to be one of the most comprehensive and enlightening books I had ever read on the subject of nutrition, fat loss and muscle building.

As I said earlier the author starts by dealing with possibly the most important aspect of any program - how to get the right mind set to even start it.

He gives you all the tools to train your subconscious into believing it is happy to do all this darn diet and exercise stuff.

Then he goes on to explain all about food - how your body processes it and what effects it has and most importantly, what to eat to stop everything we put into our mouths being stored as fat.

One of the things I really like was that he does NOT subscribe to the idea of 'one size fits all' but accepts that each and every one of us is an individual and needs a program that is tailored to our individual needs and he gives us the tools to work out how to do that for ourselves.

When he dealt with the different metabolic types and how each one needs to eat and exercise differently I must admit that I did not enjoy what he had to say BUT I have to say he was spot on - damn.

I had so hoped I would prove to be someone who could eat cream cakes and swill fruit juice and lose weight by rolling over on the couch occasionally, but it seems that is just not me.

Okay, okay, I knew it all along but a girl can dream can't she?

He also explains why we need cardio exercise (walking, cycling etc) AND weight training if we want to achieve results.

We diabetics are often told that all we need to do is 30 minutes, 3 times a week, of brisk walking and we will lose weight and keep our Bg's down.

Though doing that has helped me a little it certainly has not achieved the results I hoped for and many folk I have spoken to, who manage to control their diabetes with diet and exercise alone, insist that weight training is an essential part of their routine.

I have had to dust off the dumbbell set I bought. Didn't someone say that "the road to hell was paved with good intentions"? Buying it was the 'good intention' part, the 'hell' bit was actually persuading myself to use it!!!

I had to seriously utilise his subconscious training techniques.

Anyway, I suppose what I am really trying to say is that, though this book can be and is used by body builders - after all their aim is much the same as ours, less fat more muscle - it is also an invaluable tool for us and well worth reading.

NB
One important note here which you folk probably know but which I must tell you again - before you start any diet or exercise regime you need to clear it with your doctor.

In fact the author has stressed that at the very beginning of his book on the medical disclaimer page.

There are a lot of people out there writing books on the same subject. What is it about Tom Venuto that I think makes him special?

1: Yip, there are plenty of books on motivation, diet, nutrition, exercise and fitness but Tom Venuto has managed to combined all of these aspects into one clear, easy to read book.

2: The author is a nutritionist, a personal trainer and a bodybuilder. This means he has had the opportunity to try out his research and ideas, both on himself and on his clients. At least when you follow what he tells you you can be confident you are not 'beta testing' someone's latest bright idea.

3: Tom Venuto's honesty shines through his writing. Unlike so many fad diets he does not promise you a quick fix - you know the thing "Lose 50 pounds in 7 days". What he does promise is that if you follow his advise and life style changes you will get results even if you have never managed to be successful before. In other words he gives you the straight facts. The words 'unbiased' and 'objective' spring to mind.

Finally, I have to give Tom Venuto the thumbs-up for writing this book in such a fashion that it imparts all it's information in a way that anyone can understand, without compromising on the quality of that information.

It is 340 pages of outstanding value, and well worth its modest price of $39.

As I said before - something for everyone!

If you think it seems interesting, take a look on the following link, which will tell you more and give you the option of purchase, should you so choose.

PS.
Due to its length, if you are not really a 'read on the screen' type of person, I would suggest taking it along to a copy centre and getting them to print and bind it for you.

Then you can relax on the couch and gently absorb what it has to say!
