Urinalysis For Protein
Test.

This is a simple and cheap test but a very important one for us diabetics who are in danger of developing nephropathy (kidney disease).

It can be done right there and then in the doctors surgery. A fresh sample of urine is tested with a dipstick.

If proteins are present the doctor will want to take a second test in a couple of weeks time to make sure it was not a one time happening.

He will want to make sure as a positive result can be a sign of chronic kidney disease. Further tests will now be done to confirm the diagnosis.
